Dear Por Que:

Hi Allison,

Sorry for delaying your reply.

Thank you very much for sharing your photos. I really like the effect you have created. I ‘m glad that you really got into working on this project. I also like the image 02 (time is money) it’s simple, direct and makes me be more conscious about the energy we may be wasting.

As for your focusing problem, I’m not sure if you are not able to focus or if you are just having a hard time holding the viewfinder while focusing.

If you believe you are not able to focus, most cameras have limitation on how close you can be to the subject. You can try to focus it better by holding the viewfinder further away from the camera and using telephoto instead of wide angle. But I believe you are not talking about “out of focus” but “soft“ pictures.

To me the images of the clock (images 09 – 15), is not really out of focus. It’s more “soft” than it is “out of focus”. Pictures can be focused and soft. It’s “soft” because you are shooting through another viewfinder that is not of high quality optics. Many of the wedding photographers use “soft focusing filter” to hide the blemishes, and also to give it a dreamy feeling.

So in a sense, your viewfinder from Wai Wai camera is working like a “very soft focusing filter”.

If you are just having a hard time holding the viewfinder while focusing, you may need to get some wooden sticks and some strong tape or glue to make a bracket to hold the viewfinder in place. Have your boyfriend or someone who is good at making things to help you.

Please let me know if this is helpful.

Please take care and stay in touch.

Hi Allison:
