if you want to help...

Hi everyone,

Sorry we have not posted anything much recently.

I want to keep all of you informed as much as possible, but we have been busy taking care of our own personal responsibilities.

I'm writing this post in response to the emails we received from some of you

- asking us what kind of help we need and how you can help.

por que base have big dreams.

Bigger than what most of you imagine to be possible or hope for.

Realistic or not, we can only try our best to find out the possibilities…

Unfortunately, we are currently handling many of our own responsibilities

that are vital, just to be able to support ourselves.

Therefore, the help we need at this moment is not necessarily related to the workshops, but more on how we can

sustain ourselves and be more financially stable, so that we would be able to spend more of our time

and energy on rebuilding the por que base. I don't expect any help from others regarding this issue.

We just need to learn more about the business issues and make smarter decisions.

Regardless, we still need all the help we can get in order to keep the por que base dream alive.

I’m not sure if any of you really know what it is that we are dreaming of, but I think it’s important for people to

understand our goals AND believe in our dreams, in order for anyone to be able to really help.

In the future, I will write more about our dreams of building the ultimate por que base.

What I would call an artists temple.

A place built by the people of our community - people of por que base, and the supporters our ideas, goals and dreams.

A place where people gather to participate in rituals of art making.

A place where people can gather to show their appreciation for art and

practice their passion.

A place where we can invite international artists to come and teach.

A place where people can learn, join workshops, participate in discussions,

exhibit and sell their creations.

A place where we can accommodate visiting artists from around the world.

A place with great amount of resources and facilities to provide the needs of artists working in multi media.

A place where visitors can come to see, appreciate and purchase, or just be inspired by the artists at work.

So, the type of help we need for now (and for the future) is for us TO KNOW.

1. TO KNOW, how many people truly care about what we are doing, understand our dreams and would

want to help bring back the base - many people are just waiting around for someone else to do all the work.

2. TO KNOW, what people are seeking so that we can design the workshops accordingly and

better make better plans for the future.

By the way - thank you all, who have given us suggestions and feedbacks.

3. TO KNOW, how many people want to take art, design, and photography to the next level

Artistic activities are and should be "fun",

but we need to challenge ourselves and consider using our passion to its fullest potential.

Camera is a powerful tool that you can use to say what's on your mind.

To share, to inform, to provoke, to change people’s mind, to change what you don't like…

Making music is "fun", playing sports is "fun", and writing is "fun".

But, if we don't understand the power of personal voice, the unlimited possibilities of art,

and challenges ourselves do something greater with our passion, there would not be any

great composers, athletes, nor writers.

Many of you may feel that "fun" activities, such as shopping should not be challenged.

But money is a powerful tool, and the way you spend your can have much greater effect than with a camera,

but most of us are not that wealthy yet.

4. TO KNOW, is it worth it for Tracy & I to spend the time and energy trying

to build the artists temple in Taiwan?,

Or are we just two foolish minds daydreaming about non sense???

It was nice for Philip to post the info about the Japanese photographers

and Nor to post the link to Leica fan club

about the missing link in digital & analog photography.

But we need a lot more of these kinds of information exchange and participation.

We need more than just a few people to bring back the base.

You can help us TO KNOW by:

Telling us what's on your mind.

Your suggestions.

What you like or dislike.

What you care about.

What you would like to see people do in order to let all of us know that

we are doing something that is important in our lives.

The other kinds of help we need are volunteers.

People to advocate our dreams and bring others to join our community.

Someone to help organize the workshops.

Someone to shoot video of the workshops.

Someone who can download, edit and post the video on youtube.

Someone to find sponsors.

Someone who can rebuild our blog - this Yahoo blog sucks in layout, design options, and is not convenient

for people to post comments & replies.

People who can host the workshops – there are a lot of people in Taiwan with very valuable resources

and knowledge (and speaks Chinese) to teach workshops.

It would be nice to get hold of them to share their insight.

Last but not least, the kind of help we need are sponsors.

In order for us to host affordable workshops and start building the team to build the base, we need sponsors.

Of course we will not say no to monetary support, but we also need places to host workshops, or even people who can

donate some coffee and cookies for the workshops would be wonderful.

With what I have wrote, I believe many of you can think of ways to help us.

I don’t understand Chinese, AND I can not read your mind.

So, I would really appreciate for all of you to say more and share your thoughts.

Thank you again for your continuous support.

p.s. - we are still waiting to hear some more suggestions on classes
